Volkswagen is a German automaker founded in 1937, headquartered in Wolfsburg, and the flagship brand of the Volkswagen Group — one of the world's largest auto groups, also owning Audi, Porsche, Skoda, and Lamborghini. It is famous for the Beetle (one of the best-selling cars in history), the Golf (which defined the hatchback segment and spawned the hot-hatch GTI), and the Passat and Tiguan. VW pioneered accessible German engineering at scale and now leads the group's EV push with the ID. series. In Pakistan, Volkswagen has had only a limited official presence, though Premier Motors announced plans for local assembly of VW commercial vehicles. Used imports — Golfs, Passats, Polos, and Tiguans — make up most of the local fleet, so genuine VW parts (brake components, filters, suspension, and engine spares) are mainly supplied through importers and specialist dealers serving workshops. The Volkswagen Group's enormous scale gives the brand unmatched engineering resources shared across its marques. The Golf GTI essentially invented the hot hatch, and the ID. Buzz revives the beloved Microbus as a modern electric van.
